Nostalgia!
These are some of the girls I have invested time in while at Montevallo. It's hard for me to believe that it is my last year to be working here. while i am really excited about new possibilities i find it all to be bittersweet. Not to get all sentimental but every time i attend something on campus or do something with them I get a little sad and think "this could be my last time to do this".
But more than all that I am so grateful for what God has done in me while i have been here. I never really believed he would use my life for much but when i look back at all the relationships i have had while i have been here and what i have seen God do in these girls lives my heart can't help but overflow into praise. It makes believe more and more in God's grace to his children. I can't wait to see what the next years of my life will hold and I am eagerly anticipating what He will do in the lives of these women who have become so dear to me!

Welcome to my Life!

Currently I am writing somewhat of an autobiography. Although I don't think I have experienced all that much but there is one friendship that i have experienced that i thought
others could relate to. So here what I got so far.

I remember the day I saw him for first time. He walked in much like he will walk out elusive and clueless. Is he the thorn in my side or a tool used for refinement? I guess I will find out what the purpose is one of these days. We met when we were not quite adults and were working on not being children either. Unsuccessful I might add. There he was strolling out of Bibb Graves hall tall, lean, and somewhat mysterious. Why did he intrigue me so? Why does he still intrigue me so? That was my first sighting, I didn't meet him that day -that would be a little later. This was a busy time in my life I was beginning my college career I had just finished sorority rush and was looking for a campus ministry to get involved with. So I attended a party at one of the campus minister's house and lo and behold if the mystery "man" didn't walk in. My heart skipped a beat, my palms were sweaty, I was looking around for a place to sit all the while hoping I didn't do anything stupid like drop my plate. As I was looking around for a place to sit I realized the only seat available was by him. So what did I do? I asked if I could sit by him- that took some nerve- for some reason I was really drawn to him though. My plan to meet him went awry when as I asked if I could sit by him he got up and left me stranded with no one to converse with but my hot dog and my Winn Dixie brand potato chips. Rejected!

Fast forward a couple of weeks or so. I am at a meeting on campus and who do I see in the corner playing the guitar-the one who had rejected me not so long ago. I must confess I have a weakness for the artsy, guitar player type. He wasn't just playing the guitar he was playing my favorite Dave Matthews song. I guess I am a glutton for punishment because I went up and talked to him again. All of it becomes hazy after that I really don't know when we hit it off. But soon enough he became one of my closest friends at JSU. We had and still have a rapport that I often wonder if I will ever have with anyone again. Somewhere during that time and the years following I gave my heart to him-the ever unobtainable. He was never one to be held too tight or too close. I keep having this picture in mind of a fish that you try to hold on to and it just keeps wriggling out of your grasp you never have a good hold onto it. When something or someone is like that it tends to make you hold tighter. That's what I did-maybe he never knew or really understood how I felt about him.
